Dickwella did not comply with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) guidelines, leading to his suspension.

The organization, along with the Ministry of Sports and SLADA, conducts random doping tests during domestic tournaments to prevent anti-doping violations. SLC’s statement highlighted the seriousness with which they treat any allegations of violations.

Previous Disciplinary Issues
This suspension is not Dickwella’s first disciplinary issue.In 2021, Niroshan Dickwella, along with Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka, breached COVID-19 protocols during a tour in England. Cameras caught the trio outside the bio-bubble, prompting Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) to suspend them from international cricket for one year, ban them from domestic cricket for six months, and impose a fine of 10 million rupees.
Dickwella’s Cricket Career
Niroshan Dickwella has had a significant career with the Sri Lankan national team. He has played in 54 Test matches, scoring 2,757 runs at an average of 30.97. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he has made 1,604 runs at an average of 31.45 in 55 matches. Additionally, he has appeared in 28 T20 Internationals (T20Is), scoring 480 runs at an average of 18.14.
