India won the T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India finally ended the 11-year-long ICC trophy drought by winning the T20 World Cup 2024 and in the final match, they defeated South Africa by seven runs. The team’s star batsman Virat Kohli played an important role in the final match. At the same time, after that victory, many senior players of Team India were seen getting emotional on the field.
Speaking about his success in the tournament, Rohit thanked BCCI secretary Jay Shah, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and former head coach Rahul Dravid for their continued support and he also described them as ‘3 pillars’ and said that his goal is to turn Team India into a winning team. The 37-year-old said that he does not worry much about statistics or results and wants to create a good dressing room and give freedom to all the players.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma said after being named the best male international cricketer of the year at the ‘CEAT Cricket Rating Awards’, “It was my dream to change this team and not worry too much about statistics, results, to ensure that we create an environment where people can go to the field and play freely without thinking too much.”
He said, “This was what was needed. I got a lot of help from my three pillars which are actually Jay Shah, Rahul Dravid (and) Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the selection committee. Rohit said, “What I did was very important to me and of course the players who came at different times and helped the team achieve what we achieved.”
Rohit said that winning the World Cup was something that can never be expressed in words. He said, “(It) was a feeling that cannot come every day. When we won the World Cup, it was important for all of us to enjoy the moment, which we did very well and thank you to our country for celebrating with us.”
The Indian captain further said, ‘As much as it meant to us, it meant as much to the whole country. It felt great to bring it back home and celebrate with everyone here.” He said, ‘It is a great feeling that can never be described in words. I don’t think it is a feeling that can be expressed.”
