Jasprit Bumrah: Kiwi team captain Tim Southee believes that India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as an even more dangerous bowler since his return from a back injury. Due to this injury, Bumrah was out of the field for most of last year. Bumrah returned in August 2023 after being ruled out in September 2022 and has been India’s most successful bowler since then. He was recently described by Australian legend Ricky Ponting as the best bowler to play across formats in the last five-six years.
Jasprit Bumrah: Tim Southee made a big statement about Bumrah
Southee said during the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, “First of all, it is important to come back after recovering from a major injury and he has become even better than before. Apart from this, playing in multiple formats can also be difficult at times.” He said, “It seems that he is able to do it easily. He is probably more experienced, understands his game a little more. Maybe he came back refreshed after the injury.”
The fast bowler further said, “We are seeing Bumrah’s brilliant performance in all three formats. He is brilliant in all three formats at the moment. I don’t think there is anyone better than him, he is tremendous in all three formats.” Southee discussed the possibility of not playing some Test matches in the subcontinent with New Zealand head coach Gary Stead.
Let us tell you that the New Zealand team has to play a one-off Test against Afghanistan in Noida before going to Sri Lanka for a two-Test series. Southee’s team will then tour India for a three-Test series in October, after which they will play three Tests against England on home pitch.
